Duties of the Students Affairs Department

According to the Islamic worldview, culture means a set of beliefs, values, ethics and behaviors which is rooted in revelation and can direct and enrich the system and other sections. Islamic beliefs and values forms the entity and organization in an Islamic society and is interwoven in warp and woof of personal and social thought and behavior of a Muslim. Such integration and interdependency has made the whole view of beliefs, values and behaviors in the Islam a culture or, Islamic culture. Realization of ideals and objectives of the academic society depends on providing its cultural functions. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran refers to culture as a factor which can form general mind and behavior and is very effective in major decisions of the country. For him, engineering culture is tantamount to revising, pathology, refining and improving the culture and directing it based on the original Islamic-Iranian identity with regard to national and international conditions and requirements.

Supporting by Grand Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi and faithful forces of Islamic Republic of Iran, the Edalat University is able to act as a role-model university for other Iranian universities and higher education institutes and to increase its achievements and success. The Student Affairs Deputy of the university is tasked with implementing policies and guidelines of the university, planning, supervising and providing educational (graduated, military service and responding to the relevant centers), welfare (foods, physical training, loans, insurance, service centers, treatment and counseling) services and other academic classes (faculty members and employees), if necessary. This deputy performs its assigned duties through five organizational units with certain responsibilities and organizational discipline. We have a target and that is "respecting human dignity". The main objective of the students and cultural deputy is improving human dignity of all people who work and live in the university; to achieve this goal we not only need special facilities and conditions, but also the serious resolution and cooperation of our academic colleagues."

 

General Duties of the Students and Cultural Deputy

·        Conducting procedures of providing students with welfare areas (loans, foods, insurance, constructing cultural centers, etc.) and other academic classes, if necessary;

·        Conducting procedures related to students services in sport activities and other academic classes;

·        Conducting procedures related to healthcare and counseling services and other academic classes

·        Following a scientific view and approach to overcome problems, and responding to welfare demands and working with the related authorities to take decisions;

·        Protecting students rules and bylaws and emphasizing serious on principles of system's 20-year outlook, fifth development plan and making purposeful subsidies law in serving students, which is among the most important policies of the students affairs organization and welfare fund of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

·        Supervising all affiliated units (students affairs-cultural affairs and Extracurricular plans- physical training, graduates, foods) in order to make sure about proper execution of duties;

·        Improving satisfaction level of various academic classes (professors, students and employees) through improving quality and quantity of activities of this area.

·        Planning for executing students extracurricular activities through physical training and nourishment experts and working with other departments.

·        Secretariat of special cases (based on protecting and reserving rules and bylaws and avoiding any harms that may affect the education process and pathology of why students cases are transferred to the commission

·        Membership in the university's council

·        Membership in the cultural council

·        Membership in the Martyrs and war veterans families council

·        Membership in the students disciplinary committee and successor of the chancellor in this committee

·        Main member of committee to say welcome to the new students

·        Conducting all missions assigned by the chancellor or management committee

 

Duties of the Students Affairs Department:

1.     Preparing plans and schedules for students' affairs through making coordination with the students' deputy and proposing new suggestions and supervising how it must be done.

2.     Working with other departments to prepare a comprehensive training plan based on a comprehensive and integrated program.

3.     Preparing and upgrading bylaws, regulations, instructions required to manage students' affairs and referring to the related authorities and supervising proper execution of the related directives.

4.     Supervising plans and approved operations of student insurance and loans and healthcare and counseling services.

5.     Preparing draft of students' welfare contracts through working with the related authorities, submitting them to the related authorities and supervising their proper execution after approving.

6.     Studying and analyzing problems of students and planning to solve them and preparing suggestions;

7.     Making relations and working with other centers out of the university in order to improve both quantity and quality of the students' welfare services and optimizing the current activities and attracting new facilities and loans.

8.     Responding to students' written questions about the students affairs deputy

 

Duties of Social and Cultural Affairs Department:

1.     Designing and executing short, mid and long-term plans on cultural and revolutionary plans of the Edalat University.

2.     Membership and participation in the disciplinary committee and cultural and students and working councils of the university.

3.     Building culture and infrastructures to improve knowledge and cultural level of students and employees;

4.     Running and supervising cultural plans, seminars and conferences and free-thinking seminars and cultural seminars and occasions in the Edalat University.

5.     Supervising all cultural activities, centers and cultural magazines of the Edalat university;

6.     Making coordination with the chancellor and deputies of the university in order to realize cultural and social goals.

 

Main Cultural-Social and Extracurricular Programs of the Edalat University:

1.     Supporting research projects with cultural and social themes.

2.     Paving the way for holding free-thinking sessions in the level university based on Shahid Ayatollah Sadr and Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi thoughts.

3.     Organizing summits and cultural ceremonies with the aim of improving knowledge, spirituality in students and employees in a weekly, monthly and periodical mode.

4.     Organizing cultural, social and Quranic competitions in national and religious ceremonies with the aims of promoting Ahlul Bayt (AS) culture and refining employees and students' viewpoint.

5.     Planning for publishing cultural and social monthly of the Edalat University.

6.     Holding periodic sessions on ethics, interpretation, rules for students and employees based on Ayatollah Sadr and Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi.

7.     Holding Quran Memorizing classes emphasizing Quran's practical aspects.

8.     Holding Quran and Ahlul Bayt competitions emphasizing the practical biography of Infallible Imams and Ayatollah Sadr and Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi.

9.     Holding training workshops about drug addiction with the help of judges and Drug Addiction Prevention Department.

10.    Running education and research workshops about Islamic-Iranian lifestyle with regard to remarks of the Supreme Leader (through selecting 20 standards and forming monthly workgroups)

-         For medical bylaws and activities performed in the field of accidents insurance for the students and complementary insurance necessary information have been issues.

-         For cultural problems, some short, mid and long-term measurements are in hand, but because of relocation of the building and lack of proper space some of them were postponed. It has been planned that Quran interpretation and ethics are taught by Hojjat al-Eslam Ziaie and chancellor of the university regularly in future.

-         For students activities some measurements such launching a shop, press house, students and accidents insurance and issuing student ID card for PhD candidates.

-         For extracurricular activities, we can hold a ceremony in commemoration of martyrdom of Imam Sajjad (AS). Programs of this section will be announced later.
