"Edalat University" is a non-governmental and non-profit university established in line with the comprehensive scientific document of the country and with the aim of revitalizing Islamic-Iranian culture and civilization, under the supervision of the esteemed Shiite scholar Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi. It was approved by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution on 1391/03/16 after going through legal procedures. As the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution is considered the supreme policy-making authority, determining policies, decision-making, coordination, and guiding cultural, educational, and research affairs of the country within the framework of the general policies of the system, its decisions and approvals are binding and have the force of law.
Among the main objectives of establishing "Edalat University" are; strengthening the relationship between the seminary and the university, indigenization of humanities, development of fundamental and applied research for theorizing in various fields of Islamic sciences and knowledge, achieving indigenous knowledge (Iranian-Islamic) with a critical-scientific perspective on translational theories in the fields of humanities, and also efforts towards spreading Islamic culture and teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
His Eminence Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi, the honorable head of the founding council of the university, appointed Hojatoleslam Wal-Muslimeen Mohammad Hussein Bayati as the president of "Edalat University" on 1394/04/14.
Hojatoleslam Wal-Muslimeen Mohammad Hussein Bayati, the president of "Edalat University," holds a PhD in jurisprudence and Islamic law from Tehran University.
"Edalat University" started its activities by admitting students in four fields of doctoral studies in economics, private law, criminal law and criminology, and jurisprudence and principles of Islamic law, and currently has about 500 students in postgraduate studies. Student admission, in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs, is one of the most important programs of this university. It is worth mentioning that due to the excellent educational and research facilities available at the university, on 94/05/25, the regulations for post-doctoral and research-oriented doctoral programs were also approved by the university's board of trustees, and since that date, these programs have also been launched at "Edalat University".
Educational programs, regulations related to educational, examination, and disciplinary matters, conditions for the admission of students, duration of study, and the type of diploma awarded to university graduates are in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology and have full validity and approval of the said ministry.
The founding council, board of trustees, university president, and university council are considered the four main pillars of the university.
"Edalat University" has two vice-presidencies as follows, which operate under the supervision of the university presidency in their respective areas.
